Justitia CHAMBERS

Evin’s practice is focused on immigration and nationality law, in particular unlawful detention, EEA, asylum and deportation as well as certain areas of common and public law.  She accepts instructions not only from professional clients  but also lay clients under the Direct Public Access Scheme.

 

Since joining Justitia, Evin has been involved in a number of cases, including:

 

• A multi-track unlawful detention case where a Claimant was held in immigration detention for 45 months

• A proposed judicial review of a refusal to naturalise a prominent international professor on the grounds of good character

• An appeal relating to the refusal of an asylum case under Article 1F

• Fresh claim for an Applicant who was appeal rights exhausted and who suffered from severe psychosis and HIV

• A proposed judicial review of a refusal to grant indefinite leave to remain of a Tier 1 entrepreneur due to allegations of TOEIC fraud

• An overseas adoption case regarding two children, which involved concerns of child abduction

• An appeal to the Court of Appeal for an EU citizen who was sentenced to more than four years imprisonment

• Several instances of clients threatened with imminent deportation to Zimbabwe requiring urgent out-of-hours applications to the High Court seeking a bar to removal

 

Prior to joining, Evin spent time working as an immigration advocate at D J Webb & Co Solicitors in London. During this time, she gained experience advising clients across the full spectrum of immigration law. She appeared frequently before the Immigration Tribunal in deportation, human rights, EEA, and entry clearance applications.  She also worked as a legal associate at Richmond Chambers, a boutique set specialising in immigration law. She has considerable experience of working with members of the public and has built up a familiarity with all stages of legal casework. 

 

Evin previously worked as a County Court advocate for Ashley Taylors Legal representing claimants and defendants in a variety of different specialisms including landlord and tenant disputes, mortgage possessions, infant settlements and bankruptcy proceedings.

 

Evin accepts pro bono instructions from Advocate and Bail for Immigration Detainees. She is also a volunteer advisor at the Waterloo Legal Advice centre, one of the few remaining legal advice centres in London.
